Tips to minimise Exam stress on SMS
Read and follow these tips before your exam and success shall be yours. A simple guide to exam preparation.
All the major examination boards have websites with sample papers and examiners reports. These sites are worth a visit for a sound advice.
Allow for problems, hold-ups and traffic jams on the way and make sure you arrive with time to spare so that you can go in calmy rather than in a frantic rush.
Always credit your sources in academic writing, even when you are referring to ideas rather than actually quoting.
Answer all questions. Plan UR time well during the examination. Give equal time to all questions, so U don’t miss out anything
Be positive. Make a quick list of 5 things U ve done that U R proud of. This will put U in a good mood and U will learn more.
Be realistic Don’t try to do too much work each day. If U overdo it U won’t be able to absorb what U’re revising.
Before exam skip sugar, which will make you crash, and go for snacks like granola bars, healthy cereal or fruits and veggies to keep your blood sugar stable.
Discuss topics, after having revised them, with UR classmates. Don’t panic if they know more then U do. Just revise the topics again
Do not just read. Make notes. In fact summarizing and condensing notes focuses UR mind. Don’t Study Hard, Study Smart.
Do not postpone the difficult topics. Instead complete them as soon as possible to avoid last minute nervousness.
Do routine tasks like tidying up, at low energy times of the day. Use the high energy times to study difficult subjects
Don’t forget to read the instructions and make sure you know what you are being asked to do. You should go into the exam well aware of what is expected of you.
Don’t get carried away and overload your writing with too many obvious connectives and contrastives. Remember- you can try too hard as well as not hard enough.
During exam week, resist the urge to have a study session with your super-tense friend, especially if she’s complaining about all the work she has to do .
Eat properly and healthy Make sure UR diet includes plenty of fruit and veg. Drink juice or water, avoid too much tea or coffee.
Get some exercise. It’s a fantastic stress buster. Take a walk. U will feel relaxed. Its great if u r not getting too much sleep
If U are starting to lose it, and feel that the studying is getting on top of U – take a bit of time to Chill out
If U feel that U remember nothing! Give it UR best shot, U will be able to recall once the questions are in front of U.
Imagine yourself taking the test and feeling confident that you know all information. Picture getting all the answers right, and focus on how relaxed you feel.

Take a break and do something fun, during this time. do something U enjoy for a while if U want to stay in a good mood.
The time to tackle the difficult topics is when UR energy level is the highest. The subjects U think are dificult can be studied in this time.
Try to avoid alcohol the night before an exam, especially in quantity, as a bad hangover is among the very worst things to be suffering from in an exam room.
Use diagrammatic representation where ever possible. U may find this easier to retain. Don’t mug up.
