When we talk of spiritual practice, we cannot inject certain qualities and suddenly transform the mind. This takes time.
Encountering suffering will definitely contribute to the elevation of your spiritual practice. Provided you are able to transform the calamity and misfortune into the path.
When we talk of the six perfectionsâ€”generosity, ethical discipline, patience, perseverance, concentration, and wisdom …they can also be found in other, non-bodhisattva practitioners who are working more toward their own individual liberation. What makes the practice of these six factors perfect is the motivation involved.

Talk about others and you’re a gossip. Talk about yourself and you’re a bore.
